Soprano Karen Mulvey is excited to make the transition to the concert stage doing what she loves most– telling stories through music. She began singing at age eight and held a variety of leading roles throughout her school career. Highlights include the title role in ANNIE, Patricia in CRAZY FOR YOU (complete with silly British accent), and Rizzo in GREASE.

At BU, Karen majored in journalism and pursued music on the side. Senior year she used her narrative jouralism skills and wrote, produced, and performed her first one-woman show, Storybook, in collaboration with pianist Synthia Sture. Storybook told the story of her college career via an assortment of Broadway music old and new as well as highlighting a few adult contemporary pieces.

After college, Karen performed with local groups including New England Light Opera and Reagle Music Theatre eagerly awaiting the chance to write another show. Unfortunately, the schedule in corporate America left little time for such a thing. Karen continued to study both musical theatre and classical vocal techniques at Boston Conservatory, New England Conservatory and other privately-owned studios.

Recently, she made the departure from working for a large corporation and is now ready to return to her first love, performance.

Karen lives in the Boston area with her husband, Andrew, and their dogs Ella and Dizzy.
